Thought so, That’s the show I found my split at! I always thought the 23 needed a buff but the lazy prick wouldn’t do it

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
I'm sure this was a lot more work than it needed to be, but its certainly solid once completed. I was living in rural at the time and didn't want to wait for metal parts when I could whip something up myself.

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
Time to deal with this dash/shelf modification that was done somewhere along the line. Found a donor dash at my good old friend Keith Poole's place, cut the replacement panel to suit, clamped it to the hole and then re-cut to suit. A few tacks and welds and the job was done.

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
TIme for old trans/engine mount horns to come out and the new Creative Engineering IRS horns to go in, i have done this a couple of time since deciding to run IRS in my SC, DC, and this bus.
The front trans mount was also cut and modified at the same time but i cant see where i took any photos of that, but really was a simple manufacture of a new mount plate to suit the later bettle nose, dummy mount a gearbox and whack a couple of welds on it to make it all stick.

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
Another couple of smaller floor repairs, on the next two split projects i just replaced the whole floor, a much better approach, but as this one was going to be covered in sound deadening inside and the floor wasn't in that bad a nic i just patched it up.
Due to that black tar shit, it was hard to get the welder to comply at times, so do go hacking on some of the tacky welds. The process was to burn that shit off with the oxy and then hope for some clean metal to weld to, in the main it wasn't too bad.
Why didnt i just get the thing sandblasted prior to starting? Dickhead or novice? i think both..

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
A few other various repairs mainly of the dog leg variety.
Both sides were in various states of repair but mainly solid so I just made the panels repair sections up myself rather than replace the whole innners or outers.

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
A few pics on the rear window latch metalwork replacement and then the seat belt plate install throughout the bus.
The seat belt plates for the B Pillars fitted nicely through the semaphore holes, another plus for an early bus..

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
This that moment, all that patina taken by sand and air...if i could undo it i would..
Also this is the moment when you started relying on others, it was at the sandblaster for over 6 months...until i nagged enough to finally get it back.

Re: 1956 Bus Project Post Completion
Off to Martin Pomeroy for all the straightening and alignment, the memo was dead straight, skim coat bog only, and show quality paint.
This process was around a year, but i was happy to wait.
Martin is a master in this space, even though he hates painting cars..
I will flick up some pics of the paint job next.
