And then the paint is ON..Very exited at this point (yeah i know its no OG Paint with Patina, but it still looks alright) :-) :D

And then after a good year or two out being sandblasted, final finish body work and paint, it is finally home.. now let the fun of fitting all the new and re-furbed bits begin.

I was lucky enough with the timing of building this bus over about 8 years that i bought most of the parts when the Australian dollar was around $1.10 US. The breif was for the bus to be as comfortable as a modern car and be able to get in and drive it to long distance and it not be a handfull. Here is the Red 9 going in to the front, whilst the Red 9 doesnt allow you to get as low and narrow as i would ultimately like, it does provide awesome driveability compared to my other splitty SC (although i am yet to drive a bus with a Wiz beam in it, which i am told is pretty bloody good, he will build a 68 beam for me for my current DC build to compare). The paint on these when they arrive out of the UK is pretty shit to say the least, so it got stripped down and a coat of 2 pack satin black for a better long term finish.

Last one for the day, a few pics of the suspension and transaxle going in, i used a Rancho box with HD side plate, overdrive 4th gear etc, and did the IRS conversion with the creative gearbox horns, 68 kombi arms, etc. all new brakes etc. Whislt i used standard driveshafts at this point, they we too long once sorting a few things out post this, and i ended up replacing them with some EMPI 17 1/2" shorter shafts prior to doing any real km's in the bus, this is something that i would suggest to anyone doing an IRS as the standard shafts on a lowered bus are simply just too long...
Anyone reading this thread??? or am i just rambling to myself??

Nice clean work there. Are those washers used as packers/shims on that Red 9 front end ?

Wow for the price, thought that would be something milled in 1 piece etc.. Maybe for adjustment with different shocks or something ?

Got a link to those drive shafts? I’ve got stock ones here but happy to avoid the pain later on.

Yep, we're reading! I also bought the red9 when the dollar was a lot better, and went both ends on the DC.

The ride is great on smooth roads but bounces a fair bit onrough stuff. I've set mine as low as possible (with a little rubbing on the front occassionaly) and ended up replacing the rear standard springs with some shorter ones from Eibach.

Your build looks great, keep at it

This is where i got the shafts from, best and cheapest option i could fine, although still not cheap..

Mine rides like a modern car, it really is a great thing to drive even on rough roads, although it looks like i am running a much higher profile tyre than you and on 17" rims giving the larger rolling mass, which does take away from the look. Your DC looks awesome, but there is a price to pay for low profile 15", low and being cool.
I only scape slightly on the harshest bump.
Would like to be lower, but have a SC thats on its arse, and rides like a pig.. :D

Agree for the price, some of the quality and refinements could be much better, although was only around $5k when i bought it. Agree and think the washer packers are pointless, could just make it all a better fit when manufacturing.

There is a noticable difference in cornering with the double wishbone set up, and overall it is a very compliant set up.

I am going to get Wiz to do the beam for my DC, which i am told by many with the way he sets them up , they are as good as anything, so will wait and see. (no pressure Wiz)

I also bought in 2013, My only complaint it the steering lock is fkn horrendous .great build, super nice bus
