Planning to finish cleaning up under the bus tomorrow, get hard oil lines sorted, mount for the oil filter and start stripping the etch ready for epoxy.

Looking great Matt.
Interested to know why your using a booster, I find the pedal really good without one when using disc fronts, rear drums, and the later bay master cylinder.. then no need for a noisy vacuum pump. That said I haven't driven a bus with boosted brakes either..

The booster just gives a “new car” pedal, power brakes are the standard on everything these days for a reason. I’ve driven plenty of non boosted disc busses and they’re fine, but to really get my moneys worth out of the CSP discs the booster is awesome. I won’t have a vacuum pump, I just run a vacuum line from the manifold (just like in a bay). Drive someone’s late bay with the booster and you will be converted.

A few more little jobs ticked off the list today.

Removed the oil cooler bracket I had previously welded on as the engine builder has suggested a better way to do it. Like spending all my money on “balancing” wasn’t bad enough, now he’s making me redo stuff too.

Heater cable tubes on the bus were hacked at the level of the torsion housing. Because the bus is converted to IRS I had also lost the brackets on the frame horns. New brackets made up and welded on

New tubes bent up, had to make sure they clear the swing arms first and then the driveshafts/CV’s. These aren’t welded yet as wiz had the bus flat, I’ll roll it again tomorrow and get them burned in. Can anyone see any issues with the route of these before they get welded? Obviously they need shortening, I’ll do that once they’re welded in.

Started getting the heater log ready to go in, both feet had been hacked off so new legs/feet and I’ll get some 2 inch pipe to weld the whole thing in.

Wiz is all done on the long side. Looks amazing considering what he started with. Will need a little lead at the B piller but the rest of it is less than 1mm!
Short side probably needs another half a day tomorrow, if the weather is good next week I might even get some epoxy on.

Might have to cut him some slack today, as it’s his birthday, kids were at the grandparents, so there’s at least a couple of minutes there he couldn’t work on his bus

Surely, within five minutes of finishing he would have said, “well love, I’ll be in the shed if you need me again”!

Surely.

Friday-nothing photo worthy. Heater cable tubes burned in and lots of welds dressed.

Yesterday was my birthday and I was home with the kids all day. Didn’t get anything real done. I’ll tack another day onto the end of my 4 weeks. Back at it today.

First job was welding up the holes I had for oil lines that are now moving and elongating the other holes loft the hard lines.

Then I spent the whole day stripping etch so I can get a coat of epoxy on. Still a bit more to do before paint can fly.
