Rusty by name, Rusty by nature...
It's looking really neat Dave and at least you can see what you've got to deal with.

Re: 55 microbus
So finally a little progress, yes I know it won’t restore itself and yes I have to get on with it etc…
Anyway Matt popped in last week to pick something up and after a bit of a chat I got a little inspired to clean of some of the shit paint just to see how hard it will be and what the paint is like underneath.
Have already lost count of the number of cans I’ve used, but spent a couple of evenings out in the shed.
Results below

I’ve been waiting for these pics to surface, amazing how good that paint is. The shit paint job might have been the best thing for this bus.

Dave - that is SWEEEEET! Spent countless hours doing that on Iron Horse.
And if you did that in the shed you should be high as a kite...

Re: 55 microbus
It definitely isn’t perfect, lets just say it has lots of patina!
I’m using oven cleaner, spay cans. Fortunately its well ventilated as it isn’t something you want to be breathing in.
Spray it on and leave for a while. Some paint then just wipes off but some needs to be scrubbed to loosen it.
It doesn’t lift the og paint but does take the red oxide primer off so have to be careful

Every little bit counts, but hot damn this thing is going to be so bloody sweet. Paint looks soooo good man. Can imagine your grin doing it
