Hopefully epoxy engine bay tomorrow if it’s warm enough and aim for engine bay colour Thursday.

Another day in the garage today. Engine bay was epoxied, seam sealed and painted. One run in a subtle spot which I thought was pretty good, prick of a spot to paint.

Parcel shelf and drivers side window frames bogged. I’m not trying to get them laser straight, just covering up the hundreds of screw holes I welded, the pitting and the little dings.

Onto brake lines tomorrow and then I’ll either put suspension back in or start on the roof. I’m thinking the roof might be easier while I can still roll it.

Thanks mate, I fitted my first NOS part today….brake line grommets , can’t wait to put some actual bling on but still got some solid work ahead of me.

Had to tweak the booster bracket to buy myself another 5mm. Super happy with clearance now, won’t even see it once the bumper is on. Made a solid start on brake lines, didn’t realise how long it would take. I hate when you see nice cars and the brake lines are all wonky and look like shit. I had a mate who used to be a fridgie help me get started, he did an awesome job on his escort so we did a labour trade, I welded on his car and he helped me out.

Booster/master will both come back out once the lines are all set up.

I’ve got the kids home next week. I might take a bit of time to finish my tinware, need to get the engine back to Champ for a break in and tune.

Are the blokes with the wonky brake lines that look like shit driving their buses?

Asking for a friend.

Thanks mate. Waiting on the last couple of AN fittings and then I’ll do an oil line update and get this thing back on its wheels.

Just booked in another few weeks of leave later this year. I won’t catch Rusty now but I won’t be too far behind.

No progress on the body but I’ve been getting some stuff done. Between hunting for OG vin plate screws (fuck pff cheeseboard I’m joking), I’ve been trying to get the engine ready to go back to the builder for break in. LOTS of fucking around with tinware to get it right.

The main issue I had was my cylinder tins weren’t tall enough and I wasn’t confident they would seal. I’ve extended the uprights front and back and they’re much better now. Then I welded up the holes that were for the preheat tubes, oil filler drain and thermostat flap controls, no air leaks here.

I added the thermostat flaps from a late engine and welded them open and into the shroud. And then hid everything that I didn’t want to see on the back of the shroud, breather, coil (just a dummy, 12v goes on later and the 38A regulator. I have also blocked off the doghouse outlet and will run an external cooler with nothing on the engine.

All put together, just need to drop a fuel pump in and hook up the leads.

Very nice, neat and tidy. The smaller details are often the most satisfying imo - no matter what you apply that to.
That'll be worth the effort for sure

Nice one

Made it over to Bordertown today to see Champ and break in the engine. Couldn’t wipe the shit eating grin off my face :D

Couple of small issues getting it started, freshly rebuilt fuel pump was a pig to prime, I think Champ and I both thought I’d fucked it up but it came good. Then we had no spark even though everything looked good, turns out the NOS points had snapped at the condenser post but wasn’t visible because it was under the phenolic block. Champ threw some cheap points in and she started straight up.

Excuse the crappy sound it’s just a phone vid
