and yeah my safaris leak... but more the fool who installed them i think! i am getting htem sorted this year. i keep saying that... as afterall they spend 80% of thier time open anyway, rain or shine, and have for the past 7years. so i forget until i need to close them again.
reduction hubs and original height/suspension have advantages also.. where i live i personally don't mind the old way.. i don't mind drum brakes either as i rarely brake. no traffic lights and a slow bus help.. Ask MATARA as he drives original everything in peak hour sydney traffic each day.
mine is not a daily driver but i drive it as much as possable and with irs and disk brakes with booster i dont have any problems in sydney trafic ,as far as being hot i will take quarter windows over aircon anyday
What, no air con! I can't believe this! I suppose the next thing your going to tell me is they don't come standard with illuminated mirrors behind the sun visors and 18.5 cup holders!

the lady notes our safaris as 'independant, his n hers climate control'. my side is always "on".
get in one & hit the nearest h/way then you will not be asking anymore questions about should i or shouldn't i.
warb "keeps up with the traffic" heh heh has the speed limit gone up lately
wally
As frenzix said I drive my stock standard 65 splitty with reductions etc to and from the city in peak hour traffic from West Ryde each day of the week. Its no big deal, although you get pissed off with stop start traffic, you get that in a modern car too!
My engine/running gear is all refreshed. Drum brakes are fine, you just need to keep them in adjustment.
It stands proud in the company car park full of bmw's and mercs! How many of them can you sleep in if you've had a big night in the city, and make a cup of tea when you wake up in the morning
All in all it's obvious that owning a splitty goes way beyond the bus itself. You guys are a genuine community.
As mentioned I'll be the new kid (42) on the block as soon as I can - and no doubt I'll continue to ask dumb questions for a while yet.
ash...

i meant that in a nice way... so no harm will come. @ least they are made of old metal & not the shit u find on jap cars these days.
