Micro's Micro
Finally got around to posting some pics. This microbus was traded in by its original owner in 1999. It was purchased by a guy for $999.00 that year for his son, who was going to turn it into a surfie bus. Thankfully, the kid got into football or drugs or something, and it was left untouched. I purchased it from the second owner in 2003.
One of the better ones if you dont mind me saying so. 100% complete, including ash trays, church key, radio block off plate etc. Even the original colour chart was still stuck in the spare wheel well. Even had those canvas strips inside the headlights from the factory.
Since then, it has undergone a full body restoration. It is now in the paint shop, and the roof is going to be painted tomorrow.
As I puchased it.

Yeah. It is(was) the original paint. I guess I got a bit carried away with the resto. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Would have been nice to keep it completely original, but once I started.....
the other one in the shot is a 65 camper. I sold it in march of this year to fund my obsession with microbusses. I've got a tonne of photos of it and miss it dearly. It is now registered and on the road in NSW, apparently.. Whoever bought it has done well. frenzix, I'll post some more pics of it when I get back to my office computer.
I visited him today. He is happily adjusting to his new surroundings which is a spray booth for the next week. Then off to the trimmer to have its new headliner put in (thanks to WW and a trip of a lifetime to LA in June). Will be taking progress pics of him in the booth etc.
Thanks fro the kind words.

Hi Mandy.
Welcome to DSK. Great to finally put a face to the name.
I think Im more excited about seeing yours on the road than mine! It looks like you'll have more chance of being at DOVW than I will, I just dont think I can realistically expect it to be completed in time.
Unless of course, I throw on that working bee/beer-b-q and get you all over to help.
Cheers, and take care,
Matty

Bummer you don't think it will be ready for Day Of but then again its not looking good for mine either as we've hit a massive speed hump with the sliding window i had made. Its 130mm to long for the hole!!Not sure whos to blame but i think we're going to struggle to get the guy to make me another one in time.As you can imagine,i was less than impressed!!
On a brighter note, found a cool lady round the corner to make the canvas for my poptop,i've got something a little different in mind & shes willing to give it a go,so fingers crossed it will look the goods.
Anyway i'm not giving up hope that mine will be there,i'm putting out the positive vibes & we'll see what happens.
Maybe that beer-b-q isn't such a bad idea!!! The countdown is definetley on......3 & 1/2 weeks to go!
