Good on ya Wal the new looms are the way to go

I like your idea with for the Tacho I ran a 6 core trailer wire for that and some other gauges

this bus is a bit different to stock, must of been an order to suit from germany.
searched everyhere for alabaster splits but have only found the colour was
for early beetle's & type 3's interior, never for a splitty but this one had alabaster interior.
the whole belly has been sprayed black then a rustproof cover over the black
which has kept the bottom in very very good condition.
this split has 2 sets of outriggers at the back, why i dont know but its there
so we have kept it that way.
what i have found is mango splits were married with tan interior as standard.

tray was taken out to repair the corner, just look how good the tray has lasted.

Hi Wally The early splits have 2 rear outriggers as standard until about 1960. I think alabastor is the aus version of seagull grey- Is the inside the same as the roof?

thanks for clearing up the outrigger confusion nicko, will check tom but im sure the whole bus inside & out is mango.
so really this bus would be an aust build pre high vents would that be right, anybody help in that department.

Wally when VW painted a bus the sprayed the whole thing Mango then they sprayed above the beltline in the Seagull grey colour. What happens is the grey evenetually wears off as it has most exposure to sunlight and you end up with a mango colour all over eventually. Checkout the pics you took of mine particuarly on the roof at the front and you can see what I mean. I remember looking at yours at Steves and I am pretty sure it was the same. Whats the chassis number as I want to see how close it is to mine.

, been sitting in a corner of the place for over a week going into 2 weeks jeezus.
but the loom turned up today & very very happy.
okay it cost me about $550 for the loom but another $225 for postage
bugger they dont miss do they, jon the electrian who made the loom did his level best to get the cheapest postage he could for me nice bloke.
this loom has every wire marked with instructions clearly marked for when
its put in the bus & a couple of spare wires just in case.
okay its a bit more than double a stock loom but its customized to perfection
& the postage took a big chunk of the cost.
i hate electrics but even i can wire this up with the insturctions

some might say why not just buy a stock loom for the bus.
i have perfect working semaphores & clock going in plus a set of tacho's as well.
