Not wrong!
I can't wait to get rolling in it, mate.
Steve's reassembling the engine.
He's fitted the heavy duty oil pump, block off plate and pump output cover as well as tapping a hole in the case for the return line.
It'll feature a full flow system with a gulf oil filter under the left rear guard and a front mounted external oil cooler.
All of the electrics have been fitted, with the exception some of the gauges, a basic sound system and the spotlights.
Talking of spotties, there are 2 perfect holes already drilled in the bumper by a PO for the mounting of spotlights.
As such these little units will go in.
They're actually Ford units and were the inner driving lights on the grill of GT Falcons but they look the part.
And since they were free I'm not going to bother spending money I don't have on a pair of vintage Hellas that will just make me worry every time I go over a bump.

Maybe but prob'ly not.
Afterall, how much are a set of Hellas?
And can I be certain I'm going to get the dollars I want for the Ford units?
The answer of course is no, and to be frank I like the Ford ones and think they look the part.
For the record, the lenses are Italian glass and the metal and wiring is German so they're probably originally a Hella made light anyway.
I thought about doing the Ebay thing with them but it's just a bit too much trouble and if I want to I can always take them off the Panel and put them on Ebay later.
They didn't cost me anything anyway.

Sorry kombi1976 I wernt having a go at you or anything- Just making a suggestion. You are right and they will look great on your bus. Genuine GT stuff sells for pretty good money (well it did when I used to own one XTGT) Probably worth doing a search on ebay to see what they are worth before trying to sell them if you do go that way. You might find they are worth a lot more than you expect and you may not be as comfortable with having them on the front of your bus either especially if it will be parked in public places
Anyway look forward to seeing your bus on the road soon. I saw it at Steve place 2 weeks ago and it looks awesome

Mate, there's no offence caused.
I knew what you were talking about.
Steve Muller and I had the same conversation about 2 months back and I asked him the same questions.
He said "Ok, I can see your point" and we decided to stick them on.
And while genuine GT stuff may be worth money so are genuine German car accessories, mainly because they don't just fit VWs, but BMWs, Mercs, Audis and even Porsches as well.
As such we're competing with people who have MUCH deeper pockets.
And as for stuff getting pinched, I'd be more worried about a big set of Cibies or IPFs.
You'd have to look pretty close at these to pick them for Ford units and they even look inconspicuous then.
And yeah, I think she looks awesome too.
There are other matt paint Splitties out there but the military colour seperates her from the rest of the field.
My wife would've preferred blue over white 2-tone but every man and his dog has that paint job!
Gotta keep em guessing, right?

It certainly is exciting.
And it's been really great how encouraging people have been about my decision on the colour.
It's had exactly the impact I hoped and that's very satisfying.
I wanted a rat look or volksrod with a twist and it's kinda worked out, even though it's not really anything like a rat looker.
Today I chased up another part.
Since it's getting a middle seat from a Bay Steve recommended I chase up a rear floor mat from a Bay.
I sourced this one from a '79 Microbus and got it for a great price.
It only has one very small tear and otherwise is in immaculate condition.
All it needs it a good clean and it'll be great.

Today I had the chance to visit Mullerville while in Sydney for another reason and I took a few pics of the '67 as well as dropping off the mat and watching the master at work.
I think the rims really suit it.
The tyres are Dunlops all round....195/60s at the front and 225/60s at the back.
But you can make up your own mind.
Here's a look......
I also got to check out the working headlights and tail lights.
While the strong filament in the LHS brake light is blown the circuits work fine and I think the red lenses look funky too.
Here's a little Quicktime movie of the tail lights at work.
