Ripped off

Post by flamed splitty »

I bought this Splitty on Ebay with it saying it had a fully rebuilt 1720cc engine in it with zero k's. The previous owner said Custom Bugs & Buses built it. Rang them to find out internal workings to be told they never built a motor for him, they only cleaned up a motor and put a alternator on it. Rung back previous owner and told him this and he swears black and blue they built it and its actually a 1970cc motor with new pistons, valves, port and polished heads, flywheel etc which cost him around $9000 for motor and four wheel disc brake conversion. So now hes wondering what he had paid for. But until he can come up with some receipts to prove he had that work done ,i dont know who to beleive. So i pulled out the motor ripped of the head and surprise, f--kn surprise it's only a 1600, which even that has had none of the above work done on it, and done a few more than the 0 k's that was mentioned. I've been ripped off and maybe he has to if he's got prove he paid for that work to be done. So now iam left with getting the motor rebuilt which pisses me off. So trust no f--ker. The only good point will be i will know what i've got built.

Hay ozjeff, Yeah the paint job aint that flash. I've bought inner and outer sill for under the side doors as the repair done in that area aint that flash even though it has been fixed up with new metal and a new drivers side floor panel as thats a bit of a hash. Respraying white roof and touch up the purple paint, apart from that its all good. I did look at it before i bought it , but after getting it home and start working on it, it's amazing the things you dont pic up on with the first look. BUGGER

A 1720cc.....and then a 1970cc!!
This guy was pissing in the wind.
He doesn't even understand what barrel sets will produce which capacity e.g. 1600, 1640cc, 1776cc, 1835cc, 1914cc.
And that's before you go stroker cranks.
I'm sorry you got burnt, flamed splitty.
I guess we learn the hard way, eh?
Cheers & God Bless

Steering wheel from Airkewld in the US, and motor rebuilt from Conti Engines on Bribie Island. Been for a bash down the street and back in it now and cant wait to get it on the road. Booked in at The Kombi Shop in Noosa at the end of October for a cosmetic touch up, dash, drivers floor, side doors inner & outer sill, etc etc. Then i can put it all back together and start to have some fun in it.
