G'day from South Africa
Hi,
Name's Mike and I live in Gauteng South Africa. Got to your forum cos I'm moving to Melbourne later in the year and was hoping to get bit iof advice on what to do with my bus.
It is an SA spec '59 Crewcab that I restored 10 years ago.
Looks like this
What I'm keen to find out is if anyone here has imported a bus and more or less what to look out for and also what it may be worth in Australia in case I have to sell it.

That's good news. It has a skim coat for flatting purposes. All rust was cut out and panel patches were welded in. It's 100% complete and was my daily driver for a long time. Some rust staring in places but easily dealt with.frenzix wrote:hehe , yes it is.. looks good.. bring her over for sure. Not sure what it's worth, how solid is it, and how much is metal/bondo?

I don't really want to sell it but might need to in order to help fund a house. Your property is a lot more expensive than ours so every bit will help.
Could a good one achieve 20k?

Well spotted. SA spec for the year would be a single pair. PO had grafted in in a second set of glass lens hella's to act as flickers.warb wrote:cool bus, what with those tail lights, thought that was an aussie only thing?..
I decided to keep the setup as it was much safer for daily driving than having brake / rear / flickers combined. I stored the glass lenses and replaced with polycarb. Not stock but very easy to rectify.
Thanks for all the feedback on price. Seems like it's probably worth my while to jam the bus in with my household stuff and bring it along.

Buses are a lot less valuable here. I sold a complete and only just running '57 standard 4 years ago for the equivalent of A$514.00.
Things have picked up a bit a and the '65 standard below which is complete but not running currently has an offer of A$4000. It is stored at my place and belongs to a mate who emigrated to the UK a few years back.
