All lenses that are installed are plastic (polycarb). I have the 4 original glass hella's in storage. They are hellish delicate and it seemed a waste to leave the red ones in while it was being used as a daily driver.

All SA vehicles are rhd so any 15 windows would be. I don't remember seeing a German 15 window here so most likely to be Brasilian "Fleetline" models. Almost all of those came her as CKD kits in 1975 and were sold as a cheaper alternative to the bay window.

If you want to buy cars in SA look at www.aircooledvwsa.co.za . Just don't tell them you are foreign or they'll all squeal about exporting and how evil it is.

Definately bring your DC with you and while in Melbourne,it may choose to stay.... at my house.!

When the time gets closer, stay in contact with us and we may be able to help you with the transfer.

Which part of Melbourne are you planning on moving to.?

Would be great to have another DC in Melbourne.

Just fill the tray up with a load of SA Sprintstars and I'm sure you'll get your shipping money back! Also fill it up with some 15 window rear sections if you could.

Tony, thanks for the welcome and offer of assistance. I'll definitely take you up on it. If I do bring the bus I may as well also bring a bunch of parts too. Not sure where abouts in Melbourne it will be, we'll rent for a bit after we arrive and figure out the lay of the land before we plunk down on a property. I'd like to buy a small holding outside of town if possible rather than a house in town. Name taken and added to list!

Steve, sprintstars are hard to get hold of now. They have all been sent to the UK. If I come across a set I'll chuck them in the back.

Any estimates on what the 65 standard on the previous page of this thread might sell for in Oz? It is 100% complete and original and the only serious bit of rust is a 200mm long rot hole in the gutter above the doors.

We had one exact same with 6 popouts etc.

i looked at buying buses from sa, as have relatives there, near you! but security issues are a killer, would love some sa sprintstars as well and a fleetline. there was a guy called chris i was talking to in port elizabeth that could ship to oz for $5k? he also had a stack of buses.is he still around?, went on the forum and boy they dont like exports!!!definately bring your bus, its probably $15-17K in current market..maybe more.

Thansk for the estimate. Would definitely be worth bringing. Here it wouldn't see $10.

I don't go on that forum much, mainly due to the constant whinging about export, so I don't know chris. There are quite a few guys here who make a living sourcing and exporting veedubs of different sorts. When my dates and shipping arrangement are finalised I'll see if there is a bit of space to bring along some bits.

Mike you should also bring the yellow one a 40 ft container is much better value than a 20 fter fit them both sell the yellow when you get here and it will pay for the cost of the container. mitchell

Brian,iirc,that is your name,working under the assumed name of pmgbus,calle me a year or so ago inquiring about busses that was for sale by n friend of mine in Bloemfontein in SA.Idon't have "loads" of busses for sale, so spare yourself the PM's to ask me.As for having the means to export busses by container,I wouldn't know where to start.So I guess helping you export is also out of the question.

Please refrain from using my name in your sordid and underhanded business deals.What is the matter,don't have anymore descent cars to export?You get the cars that you export by very dubious means,and basically steal our herritage for a quick buck.Australia has the same problem with cars being exported by the likes of you.

Mevans,you're reputation is now completely shot,seeing that you got banned from the local forum for your betrayel.As for Pmgbus,I feel sorry for the poor soul that wants to buy busses from you.The reason for the people moaning and whining about export,is because we are loosing more and more cars through "people"like you.Buying cars here from unsuspecting sellers and then making a HUGE profit from those.

I suspect you have over reacted and possibly even got pmg mixed up with someone else...and also i dont think he was being offensive.

We do have the same issue, and exporting buses is a problem, i hate it and have never exported or sold a bus that is destined os, however money talks, we now live in a global vw community, buying os is a real option. I myself would love a left hand drive dc...

I travelled to SA a few years back, worked in Cape Town and JBurg, got an aussie mate married to a SA girl living in Sophia Town...

Anyway, hope that calms things a bit
