Hi Tim, Running a stocker 1600 single port at the moment. Either going to rebuild this one or drop in one of those brand new 1600 TP's in time for the road trip over to Valla next year.

Wonder where I got that? LOL. Hey where did your old panel go to? The bird from North Beach moved out and the house is now demolished! Hope she remembered to take the van with her :)
MrScooter wrote:hey what size rims and tyres are you running? i'm diggin' your profile!
165/60/14 on 14x5 rims on the front and 185/65/14 on 14x6 rims on the back. The bus is going about another inch lower when I get the steering box raised and the exhaust re-routed. It's set as high as it will go on the front adjusters and drop spindles. Straight axle rear end.
t2 wrote:like it looks great , one question why did you fit beetle rims on it ?
had them here - dug the dish - and it only cost $40 each to powdercoat. heaps cheaper than buying aftermarket alloys.
nicko wrote:Are they porta a wall white walls or actual white wall tyres. I like how they look and are thinking of getting some for mine
I looked everywhere and couldn't find factory whitewalls that would fit - tried antique tyres and even some shops in the US - nothing! So these are Atlas inserts - fitted properly they look great (buy a tyre with as little text on the sidewall as possible) but they don't stay clean long. Wouldn't use them on a show bus for this heap they do just fine. You can see where I've chipped a piece off a couple of days ago from hitting a gutter too hard. I think they were $140 for the set of 4?

The solid rims do look good, is the offset much different to bus rims?

Not a lot of difference if any - I originally wanted mangels, then empi's, then mangels again. It took so long with the bus off the road I changed my mind a dozen times then saw the dish on a mate's beetle and figured that would look good. It was kind of like, when the music stopped I sat down at the chair with the beetle rims on it :)

The only better ad for your business than that sweet bus is your pics!
Always enjoy your posts.

After seeing the cargo doors I now even have a new respect for brussell sprouts!.

Took a new pic :)

Just had the front seats and rear rock n roll retrimmed in black canvas. Also got some safaris in lately and had some more rust cut out by Dave (66split) - will post some more pics soon.

Shout out to Tick who, after two years of me flogging the bejesus out of the 1641 he built for me, it still doesn't lose a drop of all and kicks arse (for a 1641...)
