Progress so far is limited to removing interior trim for a better look at panels and working out what I will need before starting.

Also halfway through a house resto in town and building a smaller shed here so I can move non-car crap out of shed - nothing serious expected until early new year....

Okay...starting to get just a little excited as I have cleared a backlog of jobs and can now get started on the deluxe in earnest.

The plan is to get the beast running (no motor when found) and roadworthy, get it rego'd and drive for a while as is before getting stuck into it good and proper. (larger motor/lowered/wheels/roofrack/12V)

Will be ratty on the outside - now and later!

A PO had advised the seller of my 62 single cab that its motor had been done up about two years prior to selling to me so we will put that theory to the test and see what happens when it is humming away in the back of the 15!!

Motor is 1200 so no land speed record attempts anticipated

The single is basically all there but it does have issues - rust lower part of body most of way around, above treasure chest door and along one edge of tray - floors are good however! And, naturally, the pic shown is its 'best side'

Keeping the writing on the back SP, the map will depend on how far the nose repair needs to go.....

That's gorgeous, Morts.
By the looks of things you'll have a lot of repairs to be done on the nose but then I'd lose the map anyway.
Personal preference in the end.
All that OG paint is gorgeous though.
That's part of the appeal of Mikki's 23 Window.....that and fact it has 23 Windows.
Kinda like yours has 15; bring on those corner windows!

I wasn't sure about the map either kombi 1976 but in the end I've decided to leave the exterior in an 'as found' condition apart from a polish up and any necessary repairs.

Haven't read the book Grizzle, but can't say I'm surprised

Got around to starting some of the basic body stuff - gutters were a little bent over here and there from who knows what, fixed both doors that wouldn't quite shut properly and pushed out a crease in the back quarter and popped out the dings in the nose panel.

Looks almost respectable from about ten metres away now. Looking to give her a polish up next and see what a little love after almost thirty years will do for her!

Got a mate who is now a lawyer but used to be a panel beater and was even apprentice of the year way back in .....1982!
Anyway, he offered to buff the bus so how could I refuse??

A lot of the bus are still the original colours. Below the belt line the darker red (behind number plate) is the original ruby red, whereas the lighter red is an enamel which in places looks like it has been brushed on in some places and looks really neat in others.

Above the belt line is the original pearl white and the roof has also been enameled a white. The plan is to buff it and leave it as is....

The stuff he used was top gear!!

These pics are after the initial buff - will post a few more after it has had the hand polish.....
