blueprinting rhino's carbs
Well,
Since the weather turned a bit colder here in Vic the beerdoc seems to be
spending all his time hanging out in coffee shops.......
So while he lolled about in the warm sucking light soy cappuccinos in the
special eggshell blue cups that he likes I had a look at Rhino's 40 IDF
webers..
I must admit I am always amazed by some of the jetting combinations
that people apparently run. Doc's
40 IDFs were fairly typical with tiny chokes (28mm) and huge mains (145s - well huge for those chokes anyway).
So we did some calcs and took the chokes out to 32mm and with a set of 130 mains
they should be somewhere in the ballpark for Rhino's big donk.....if only
I could get doc out of the cafes!
There is no doubt that webers are a great carb when everything is
set up right...you never have to touch them apart from an idle jet
tweak every now and then.....
Choppin' up doc's chokes. Inner angle on the venturi (choke) is about 5 deg.
'New' 32mm choke left, 28mm that was in carbs on right.
Difference is fairly significant when seen in the carb.
