And I'm new here today too!

Post by 67pickup »

Hi guys!
A lot of nice Splits here, and a great forum - I've spent a few hours checking up here.
I guess my 67 is a bit on the ratty side. It was hauled out of a scrapyard some years ago and saved, but then was filled up with junk behind someones barn for years before chanhging hands again. The new owner gave it the full lowering job and put in a 2.1 for more speed.

Thanks! I can't take credit for the looks though cause it's done by the two previous owners, basically I'm just keeping it this way.
I bought it engineless, all I've done is to get hold of a 1600 (AS) from an automatic super beetle and changed bearings and gaskets. Just a stripdown to inspect it.
Anyway it would look nice with an extra sticker on - the dsk logo would fit in well! I'll see if we have something to return from our local club.

The kids are in bed now, so I'm heading for the garage for some tidying. I'll take some detail snapshots of the canopy to give you an idea of how it's made. They're quite hard to find here in Norway, which applies to the cars as well. Salt on the winter roads and the uncovered rear cargo area exposed to all kinds of harsh weather has eliminated all but a few, rare survivors.

Here we are - not brilliant pics, but anyway I hope they show how it's put together. I don't know whether this is an OG part, or if it's home made, but it looks like it has spent some time in the same scrapyard as the pickup.
The car was btw used by a VW dealer in Sandefjord, Norway for a number of years until it was sold to a small company.

When it's raining heavily there's a small gap between the canopy and the rear of the cabin, so water is leaking in... need to address this some time

This is a cockpit view. Someone had cut open the radio grille to make room for some gauges. Had to cover it up with an old 6V Grundig radio and an alu plate
