What sort of issues do you think you may have getting that passed for rego?

Problems....let me see.....the first one will be getting it out the drive way, other than that as long as I find a blind mechanic to do my inspection, should be a piece of cake

nah sorry froger, my split is bieng neglected at the mo, I've been weldin on a lowlight just to get me mobile but i reckon its more rusty than my split.

P.S the pic is one of herb's photos from the DHK forum in the states he is a member here and he posts up links to their show and meets from time to time. he might know the bus.

Had Friday off work, still managed to be at work for 6 hrs and had a very productive day, finished off my spring plates, sand blasted and painted the rear drums and backing plates, picked up my sealed bearings that will be run in the flipped RGB's to keep the oil in them, also re-reamed the spindal to accept bay window tie rods from underneith.

Through this week I also did some mods to the original box to get it to mate to a type 4 1800, hooked up some fuel and power and fired it up on my trailer, sounds pretty tidy, just have to modify my manifolds now to accept the larger empi solex 40's and Bob's my Uncle.....well I mean when he sees this Rat he'll be popping the question to my Aunty, picken up what I'm putten down.

Won't you have the opposite probs to normal.....better top speed but no low down power?

The box itself stays the same inside apart from the bearing that supports the axle is replaced with a sealed one, and the seal on the gear side is removed, this wil stop the oil going back down the axle tube, the whole axle tube, shafts and rgb's are swaped from left to right so that the brake pipe brackets and hand brake cables all line up, rotating the whole assembly in this way has given me 8" drop straight up and after mods to my spring plates for it all to mount up this has allowed for a further 2", rgb's have straight cut gears so they run is both directions no probs, I will have some pics of the finished product in a week or two pal

cool 8 inch drop , you might think about sectioning your rear crossmember, might be a little too close to the ground . just measured mine with a 6 inch drop I've got 4 1/2 inch clearance running 15 inch rims and 60 series tyres. Looks like youll have 70mm 2 3/4 clearance ... sweet

GFresh, I would like to know what throwout bearing and pressure plate you used to get that 1800 to fit to the swing axle box, and did you change the throwout arm. as I am putting a 2lt in my splitty at the moment. Regards Ian
