Crossmember clearence
Yes I have noticed that it will be close to the deck, haven't got that far yet, my mentality is make it hit the deck and when she's low enough work the rest out from there, I get an 8" drop only with the RGB's flipped, I have come down at least another 2FrankenCab wrote:cool 8 inch drop , you might think about sectioning your rear crossmember, might be a little too close to the ground . just measured mine with a 6 inch drop I've got 4 1/2 inch clearance running 15 inch rims and 60 series tyres. Looks like youll have 70mm 2 3/4 clearance ... sweet
' on top of that..... or is it below that? I'm getting confused

Ahh, still working on this one, so far I have found that the 200mm type 1 and 215mm type 4 clutch setups use the same ring gear size and ratio, 2 ltr has a larger flywheel again and I had to shave about 2mm out of the bell housing to get the flywheel enough clearence, I think the 1800 and 2ltr share the same crank to flywheel configuration, I looked at modifying the 1800 flywheel to take the early type 2 clutch set up with the ring style pressure plate and thought F*#K that, may create more issues than it's worth so I am looking to set up the clutch as per the 1800 type 4 and modify the fork (if required) and the box to accept a thrust bearing guide, I'll keep you posted on this one, should be in the next week or so, I have only set up the box to the engine without the clutch to get it running before fitting it to the bus, I am about 50ks from where the bus is stored at the moment so it's doing my head invanell wrote:GFresh, I would like to know what throwout bearing and pressure plate you used to get that 1800 to fit to the swing axle box, and did you change the throwout arm. as I am putting a 2lt in my splitty at the moment. No stress mate, with radical ideas that aren't done very often if at all I don't think you are meant to understand it all, at least you have the nuts to get clarification, it's only just making sense to me now and I've been milling over it for monthskombi1976 wrote:Ahhhh!

Ol Ronny
Sad story here, the old Fella was crook with Cancer, pitty that he wont see her finished as he passed away about 4 weeks ago, I think I have an idea for some olSkool signage for this bus as a tribute, the bus had been in the family since the late 60's, Ron, (the old fella) used to import light aircraft into Aussie and sell them off, I heard through the grapevine that they used the kombi when they built the air field and they used it to carry all the tools and tin around on the roof and slide the sheets onto the hangers roof.BREN0 wrote:WOW george you are really getting into this VW's heart and sole. That old bloke sure knows how to find a bloke that will give the VW some loven. MickGFresh wrote:Welcome aboard Breno, ThanksBREN0 wrote:Lookin' rad G!!!!
