Robs 59 11 window

Post by remm340912 »

Well most of you already know that I was one of the fortunate ones to save one of those splits down in southern tas (refer to "what a shame" post in lost and found) and here she is. As you can see theres the usual probs but ive got her home and im actually surprised by how good she is. The roof is going to need a lot of work. Its my first split and my first resto ever and i will endeavour to keep you guys upto date. From what ive worked out shes a 59 with semaphores and delux interior. Bit of previous bog work done.
Enjoy

Rob

G'day Rob,

Glad to see she has been saved. Looks to be a good starting base apart from the roof. Best of luck with it :)

Wish i could get ahold of him, re the white panel over the bank. Can you help?

Cheers Bill

i think i will just get a panel beater to fix the roof. I think replacing it completely is a little out of my league. As for the white panel, I will have a chat to him next time i see him (which will be soon).

that looks like a bit of a mixed bag... some bits look ok even nice and others are just plain nasty. if gerson does a full roof you would be miles ahead. it is a really nice colour combo. please keep us up to date, i think most here (well at least some of us) love watching others progress from as found to on the road.

Great, what a good base, as already stated :)

Looks like you have a pub over the road too, so not far to go to get some encouragement...

Could be a Microbus... There is a thread on here where members will tell you the exact detail based on the number from the engine bay... I'm starting to learn a little about these numbers etc... Any sign of seats there? I am after the frame of a middle seat, if not a complete one... for my 57...

Welcome, and good luck with the resto.. you've already got a better start than most... And yes, get roof done by a pro sounds good.. I have two that need the roof doing.. one will just be a rust replace job, but the other is a bit more serious... it'll be a "pay someone else" job...

Hands up anyone wanting to do it in Tasmania? (replace the roof rust, guys!)

looks like fun doing torsion housing aswell , leave the front section as long as the glass fits and just buy the roof profile bits or get them folded for the sides .
good luck with it and keep posting pics , should be some donor busses down your way.
