Mostly cutting and shutting patch panels in to get rid of the rust. Mechanically shes pretty well together, but time will tell...

I've welded them before not a problem just make sure there's no fuel or vapors inside and leak test it after.

question on your chassis rails or anyone who has done them, do you need to put any strengtheners anywhere before cutting/replacing ?

or is it safe to do one side at a time?

cheers Hazz

Hey Hazz I braced it up by tacking in some tube in the cargo area and went one at a time. I used a lot of stands to spread the weight too. But really it was already pretty munted by rough treatment on a forklift and one rail was rusted out really badly, so I just did the best I could. If your Sills are pretty solid theres a fair bit of strength in them.

Well I finally got an afternoon to get some work done. I got the cargo doors off with the help of a MAPP torch I had no hope of getting the screws out otherwise.
Also fitted new top hats and I beams in the cargo section. Used the tube from an old Hills hoist for a shift rod tube worked pretty good.Image

Used some MAPP gas to heat up the door screws for removal.
Works well in combination with my small ratchet driving a large phillips bit.

Did get a bit smoky at one stage, like being at summernats 8)

I just got the lower outers and made my own inner, which was a bit of a process.

its amazing how ridgid the panels are once they are boxed and fully welded in, the step doesnt deflect really at all even with me standing on it. :!:
