I have thought about seatbelts for a long time. I am silly enough to drive this thing as my daily drive and therefore wanted to get a bit more safety into it. Yeah it is light years from a NEW car in that area but it is what I want to drive afterall.
So.... here are a few updates. I have the stereo all hooked up to a pair of 6x9" Kenwood Speakers n special at $88. Being a single cab the spare wheel holder isn't in the cab like a van so there was some space there. Not enough for 2 speakers though (learnt the hard way) so one is mounted in the middle of the car in the 'jack - wheel brace' void. These retro sound things are kool - look old but have USB input, aux input for other modern stuff etc. Wiring was easy. One power to the far right fuse, and another to the next one.

seatbelts - got the propper AS spreader brakets with the captive nut that I also used in under the front guards.
Made use of the two holes in the rear cab wall (they are factory to accress the gate hinges) and ran an angle grinder between them. Bent the flap up with pliers. Drilled 4 holes - the top hole for a string (pulley) so I could get the plate where I wanted it and not drop the plate into the 'void'. 2 other holes to rivet the spreader plate to, and a wider one for the bolt to access the captive nut in the spreader plate. When bolted up cut the string off and filled the hole with a rivet.
Using belts from Wolfsburg West coz I like the way they look.

I had some old headrests that I have had for a few years waiting for the right moment. Well the metal behind you in a single cab would crack your head like a walnut in a prang as you recoiled. So this is my attempt at safety. I see ppp is offering these on dsk repro too. The covering of the lower part of both cost me $90 - I supplied the material - and after just one day I love it.

I always liked STP stickers as a kid (I collected stickers) and will put a couple on the bumper corners.
And most importantly warb did some clever stuff for me ..

a few closer pics of the rear sticker - I like it best as it shows the paint cracks etc - whereas the door paint isn't that bad ... well in comparison to the tail gate.
I prepared the area with a quick rub with some coarse sandpaper to get it a bit smoother before the decal. Love having a ratty ute again - it has been a gap of nearly 20 years. Sandpaper on the bumpers before stickers too.

well I had a major engine blow up very shortly after the last post. Hole "appeared" in the block under the manifold.
Combined with the 2nd whiney reduction box I was running, I have given in and have gone Creative IRS with adjustable spring plates.
To match the front has flipped spindles and Sherman wide 5 disks.
Down 3 1/2 inches all round.
oh ... and instead of the 1600 motor it now has a Pobjoy 1916 with 8 plugs
People are pointing and laughing at me on the road .... again. I think it is the car. Put it to work over the last few days too. Plenty more stuff for it to do to as my daily hack.
