FIRST SPLITTY!
Hi All,
Just wanting to introduce myself and the family, Im Reidy, my (very understanding) mrs, Jen and our beautiful daughter Sunny (2.5 yo). We bought our first '61, 11 window safari splitty late last year off Rhett (nice bloke) from Bendigo, through this site. Some of you may know her as the EMPI bus. After having some rust sorted ( and front and rear stripes removed) along with some minor mechanical 'tweeks', we are very pleased to have her registered as an 8 seater and enjoying her as our daily drive. Plans for the future of the bus are - dynamat, headlining and delux trim. But mostly looking forward to some family road trips. Our (camping) "maiden voyage" is to be South West Rocks at easter. Great spot.
I may not be able to offer any wisdom or insights on VWs- my experience is just beginning- but I am very much enjoying the knowledge and information from all those who contribute.
We live on the mornington peninsula, a perfect location for cruising in a bus. if anyone knows of a good, reliable mechanic with a special interest in vw within a reasonable distance, details would be much appreciated.
Cheers and happy cruising.

Southwest rocks is a great spot I was up there last year for a week.gotta love an 8 seater, nothing better than having so many seats for the tribe and extras!. Best to learn how to fix the small problems yourself, you're at the right forum for unlimited knowledge !
