Hi guys,
My name's Jako from Chiltern Vic. Thanks for the look in.
I'm getting on in years now but I fondly remember the time in the late 70's when I was the proud owner of a "56 oval' beetle and then graduated to a '58 Splitty when I was at uni.
I bought the Kombi for $120 and loved it to death for 3 years. All repaired and driving nicely, I sold it for $250 in 1982 thinking that the half dopey, drugged out dude that bought it was a loser. If he's still alive and not dribbling out the side of a wheelchair, he is probably laughing at me right now.
Anyway, due to a late mid-life crisis, I have my sights set on buying the remains of a '58 Splitty (A restorers dream!) from a young bloke who is destined to become the Donald Trump of VW.
I look forward to sharing the journey if any one is interested. I love reading about the resto's, looking at pics and hearing the stories.
Will post pics as soon as the deal is done.
Best regards,
Jako

Welcome Jako...
Sounds like you bought a splitty from Sam the Kombi wrangler from Bathurst. Look forward to seeing pics.

My Dad's Kombi circa 1967 at Taronga Zoo. I'm the light weight with the skinny legs, my older brother is doing the roof jump!

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Looking forward to getting started and getting some pics up.
I've already learn't something about pics, and thats the advice about Photobucket?
I think I'd better investigate the process even though I'm a Ludite.
All the best for Christmas and the new year,
Cheers,
Jako
