Just saying Hello

Post by WANNAPANEL »

Hi everyone, thought I would say hello and introduce myself.
Steve`s the name and I am going to need heaps of advice from those of you in the know
I have just taken ownership of MY dream, a 63 Split panel :D
She needs plenty of work and will take quite a while to get done.
Plans are for an alltitude fix, and clean old school hot rod look :?: ( sorry to all you traditionalists) matt finish paint and sign written.

So 1st question, where is the best place to get replacement panels, cost, quality, etc and what wheels are a straight fit for my new toy :?:

Also, other rides I have are a 59 Rat Beetle (waiting for the rest of the Juddy bits to fit it up), and a 66 LHD Type 1 Ghia which was the procect till the Bus turned up :D

All the best for now, thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi Steve, Welcome to DSK.
Glad to hear you will be lifting the panel to the correct height.

Welcome along Steve,

re. replacement panels there are few options:

1) Gerson (klassicfab) - oz distributors are Benno and Greenbus (Elton) on dsk. Majority of the panels fit very well and are my preference, but like all repro panels, not all are perfect and sometimes need trimming etc

2) Autocraft available from George at ClassicVeedub - again most of the panels I've used have been pretty good, however supply can be a problem (have been waiting more than 2 months for ute rear corners and more than 3 months for roof repair sections).

3) Schofield panels from The Bus Stop. The underside stuff has been okay (outriggers etc) but (remember this is just my opinion and others may differ) I only use these if I can't get a hold of either of the above two options.

Welcome Steve. I noticed that you wanted the "old school" bus look, so I've posted a pic to give you some ideas (although the busses at my old school looked nothing like this).

Welcome Steve - plenty of good advice on here....

Penguin - do you have any more pics of this bus?
No matter what happens they can't take you out in the street and shoot you......
