61 double door panel project

Post by silverbullet »

Finally i have got my self another split had a few in the past but never had the money to restore (we all know how much it costs) as i had a long term beetle project on the go so now that is all finished i needed a new project so here it is. Its a 61 double door panel withe the twin rear lights. always liked this model but hell they are all cool. The van is at the blasters at the moment so we will see what it looks like when it returns. typical sandblasters said is it worth doing? it has had a bit of a ding in the front door but has not damaged the inner panels.

Good stuff , and yeah it's a sexy model you got there .. I'd be a bit concerned about the blasters attatude , sounds like he doesn't really give a shit about your van , hopefully he won't warp any of the panels ...
Nice Beetles ..

The sand blaster put off blasting it for over 7 weeks with hassling him every week i just went and picked it up and found another guy who wants to do it and do a better job as he wants to do it. i bought it home in the meantime and just removing a few panels and rust so they can get into all those nooks and crannies.

I keep finding rusty parts every where i look but little by little it will come out.

Gotta love DDs, silver bullet.
There's an absolutely amazing one down in Vic, I think out on the Mornington.
Twin Fin owns it, from memory, and he turned it from a rusty collander to a wonderful ride.
I reckon you'll do the same with all your Beetle experience.
Looking forward to those progress pics. :D
Cheers & God Bless

progress pics after a long time of sitting around wondering is this will ever look like a van again I have taking the van to classic auto metal to get a start on the repairs. these guys did a lot of work on my green beetle definitely know there stuff . so from now it will start to take shape quicker than I could ever do.
