61 split ute
A while back my mate Bruce called me an told me about 2 splitty utes in Ararat, an asked if I wanted one, they were really bad rust wise an basically it was just a cabin with a good roof and a back piece, the chassis was rusted thru and it came in two pieces. I have a chassis jig that I made using a chassis that Cooper lent me, so here is what I have done

Re: 61 split ute
Tried to get a bay window irs to work but could not get it to work properly, I wanted it low and also want the tyres to be narrower that what the bay window ends up being. So I bought a whole 944 rear set up , and swapped out the tortion housing, and raised it up about 20mm, then made a chassis to join it all back together

Re: 61 split ute
Last couple of days I have been welding the chassis back together, bit of overkill on the tube size, and bracing, and got it to roll out of my shed today

So plan is, Porsche 4 wheel disc brake, tub the front, raise the beam into the chassis, 2.1 waterboxer engine, heater and air con. I told Brad it was going to be OG paint but I don't think there will be anything left, so SWR, and hoops an tarp. Ian

Looking great Ian. My 62 is still available for reference measurements if needed, although it looks like your past that now.
