underbelly first coat

steve will blast then prime then first coat straight away as to
not let it sit overnight or even for a few hours as its least
likely to have any moisture get at it & its sealed.

before you wonder why the weld burns steve had finished the bottom
& had primed then first coat then he welded up the holes that where
drilled along the floor from the bulkhead to the back door, the only explanation for the hundred or so holes is someone had put in masonite
or chipboard panels as a floor covering, not to worry its only first coat
steve likes to start from bottom & work up.
today he finished welding in a bulkhead which was a donor from the 59
that i will have to replace when i get it done (rhdd hint hint

).

you asked on another site about price, steve gave me an estimate
of just under 10 thousand for the work but i think it will be more as
he found a lot to do as he went on plus he is going to do everything
& a 1600 twin port motor to go in that has 50,000 on the clock, have bought most of the accessories already & only have to get the upholstery
done & steve mueller is going to do the conversions done.(suspension)
im looking at 20,000 once its on the road at the moment, but i will post
the total amount once finished which is close should be ready before summer

well steve was out of action for a while operation
but he's back on board so its on again
the first coat of turkis green on the doors

i think he's painting the shell next week first coat

when ya did the inner floor - what did you do to get rid of the pitting in the old metal - fill it, or just prime and high fill. I'm trying to avoid sticking bog on my floor as it's solid, but it is pitted.

Advice?

steve welded up holes where possible but anything too small
he uses a fibreglass type of product its far superior to bog.
i will find out today for you what it is exactly.

yep i think thats it he welded a spare bulkhead in about 6" above
the cargo floor line & ground it back but where you can see the
weld he used that polyester filler & the finish is spot on can not
see the weld line at all, but there is a soft steel product called
aqua knead by selleys its mainly for boats but will stick to steel
like steel

once it dries you can drill or grind the stuff.

bulkhead after polyester filler was put on no sign of connection.
