G'day everyone, havent cleaned front floor yet but have cleaned out the rear. It appears that the biggest rust hole is about twice the size of a 50c coin. Here are a few pics....

The floor hasn't been replaced but has had a plate welded over the top. ( don't know why) Original floor is still there and in reasonably good condition. From what we know it could have been done 25+ years ago.

Cheers Rusty.

Bought a front end off Rick (Volksrecycle) yesterday. Have to get the kombi back on the ground.
(and yes, a kombi front end will fit across the back seat of a 2005 commodore sedan, if you're careful )

So my bus has sat sideways in the shed for over 2 years while I saved money and collected parts for the front and rear ends. Recently I had collected enough stuff to get it on wheels. I have put a 4.5" skinned knuckles narrowed beam under and did a straight axle conversion on a type 3 rear end.

This weekend with the help of my dad we put the rear end under and the beam under. This is the first time this bus has had a front and rear end under it in 25+ years.

Still needs to be pulled out of the shed and lowered to where i want it. :)

Once its out, we are going to be re-arranging my vdubs. The 68 notch is the next project so it will be moved to where my beetle currently is, in the main part of the shed.

Here are some pics from the weekend...

we slowly brought it down lowering it onto wheels in various stages...

I will post more pics once its out of the shed and sitting closer to the ground 8)

Hey Mate,

Can you provide any information on the straight axle conversion with a type 3 rear end? Easy to do?

Thanks

During the school holidays I did a little bit of work on the bus.

The wiper switch hole in the dash was badly damaged so i cut out the bad section and made a new piece to weld in. Its not completely finished and will need a bit of refining but pretty happy with it.

The bad..
