Congrats on your new arrival Colin. hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it. There is a big split scene alive and well over there so you shouldn't have any problems getting into the loop.

Hi wayne cheers for the info, I took the bus out on her first proper drive today since i got her . Got a two Day pass to take her to the mechanics . I am using john scott at vw specialists in balcatta. He is giving it the once over for the pits inspection so fingers crossed. If anyone has used him let me know what you think. Her seems nice enough though. Drove the bus for about 30ks without any hint of a problem and couldnt stop laughing all the way there . i think the madness has well and truly set in. i will let you all know how we get on.ps do you know anywhere over here to pick up the odd bits and pieces. i have had no luck anywhere and im to impatient to wait for ebay, post etc hey ho speak soon col.

Rosies back, Thats what our 4 year old has christened the bus and must admit it suits her. Nothing major to worry about, the biggest thing being they might pick up on the heating system apparently because the motor has been changed and the heater box's removed it might not pass the pits inspection. if anyone has any experience of this please let me know what my options are .apart from that some very minor other problems need sorted and that should be us legal.keep you all posted cheers col

Thats great! Wont be long before "Rosie" is back on the road then.
My only advice when taking a car over the pits is to pretend you know nothing about cars and be friendly!(but not too friendly;)The pit guys are usually pretty fair.
The pit inspector might not pickup the fact that the heaters are missing so deal with it if it is a problem.

Greetings Colandjo,
I am about to take my DC over the pits a second time. (probably not before DOVW) the first run I encountered with the pits was a few typical problems. They didnt mention anything about the heater boxes hoses etc, and I have got any installed. Here is a list they picked up in Octobers first inspection.

1. Steering box/pitman arm
2. King pins (even though Bill at Vwest thought they were fine.
3. Headlining????? what the F#$k!!
4. Amber lenses a bit faded.
5. Engine and Chasis numbers not clear enough.
6. Tires 25mm greater than factory standards.
7. Seat belts fittings too loose.
8. Brakes not good enough. Still got allround drums with new cylinders and shoes??? work that one out.

I didnt open my mouth at all just took it all on the chin and smiled .I am due back in a week or too . Welshpool station had a wait of about 45 mins at 10.ooam!!! Day of surprisesKeep you posted.
