while the motor not in the way i'll rip the fuel tank out and give it a good clean, i've been thinking about putting in a bay tank but not sure if its worth the effort.
Also going to strip the engine bay down repair any need areas and repaint, that way its done.

Ive been looking into putting on a shermans front disc kit but with the need for engineers cert, mod plates and other bits that idea's been put on the backburner until the house reno's are finished. i have been slowly hoarding new drum brake parts since i bought the bus.
Gave the drums a tidy up and paint, will have them machined next week then i can start on the rears.

No kids this arvo so after doing the brakes i ripped into the tinware, rear valance and air cleaner with the wire brush and degreaser.
Got a couple of primer coats and a dust of black before i ran out of light.

Hi kombi1976,
i had been buying up NOS parts for the drums for a few months when the idea of disc fronts came up.
I live 5 mins from shermans workshop so i spoke with him regarding his brake system and what is needed to get the best out of the kit. After buying the brake kit, upgrading the master cylinder and fluid bottle the cost would have been around $1000.
The bus will be a daily driver so i spoke to a guy that has done a few roadworthys for me.
He said that the aftermarket brakes would need to be engineer approved and mod plated before a roadworthy would be given. This process with out the RWC is about $380.00. As this is the only item this time around that needed engineering i could spend the money better elseware
I think that the shermans kit is a good product and when my bus has a full ground up resto in a few years i will for sure be fitting a front disc kit. Front drums will do to get me on the road until the house reno's are done.

Thanks guys,
Matty,
i'm not against the front disc idea, i will go down that path in a couple of years when i do a full resto. For now i need to get the bus on the road and i had most of the drum parts sitting there.
I'd love to be doing a full resto now but we all know the saying "HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE" my house is about to be reno'd and the bus is not our top priority...............apparently.

Kombi1976,
Yes mate all the original running gear will stay until it breaks or i pull the bus off the road for a full going over, what ever comes first.

Byron bus,
The D fin is a 9'4" Scott Dillon that i have semi restored and the single is a 6'6" McCoy. I don't remember the last time i rode a modern board, I mostly ride the McCoy or 7"2" Morning star. The log doesn't come out as often as i like due to the amount of wankers that crowd the points on there short boards in a small swell here on the coast .
I've got a bunch of other single fins in my shed that i'm slowly restoring if your up this way drop in and have a look.

Cheers Glen

Hi Bay Kruzer nice work.
OG Drums in good nick are very adequate for a stock bus without an upgraded donk. if you want to go fast get a ricer! LOL nah each to thier own but with standard motivation you will be very happy with your drums .m
