"Daisy" our dove blue '61 11 window.
(Sorry but I was too excited and forgot to take pics.
I get her home on Wednesday and will post more pics then.
The front badge was all I brought home today.)
And so the journey begins....
She's a beautiful 11 window in dove blue.
She's a pretty clean and straight old girl and I hope to have her on the road very soon.
Some rust in the sills as you would expect but nothing major.
I'm counting on lots of advice from DSKers to get her finished.
The owner couldn't have been nicer and, as he lives nearby, I'm sure we'll help each other out with our projects.
Again, sorry about the lack of pics but much, much more to come.
I haven't stopped smiling all day.
Take care.
Alan

The blue in the pic is actually the blue sheet over my snooker table.
Sorry about that!!!
All I have at home at the moment is the badge. Didn't do that deliberately.
But it is a great colour.
Definitely lots of pics as soon as she comes home and lots more of the restoration.
Lynda has christened her 'Daisy' already.
We're hoping that 'Daisy' will make her debut later this year.
Keep up the great work folks.

Scotty, There might be a Samba in there just waiting to get out, but I've only counted 11 windows so far... unless I walk around it twice.
Warb, thanks again for the chat we had at Manning Pt a few years back, and for getting me onto DSK. It's great to have Kombis again!!!
Looking forward to seeing Daisy and Edna together... hope they don't fight.
Good night all.

Thanks for posting the pics for me Chuck.
It was a pleasure doing business with you. Still smiling!!!
Here are a few more pics.
Daisy came home today and work will start tomorrow.
It may take some time as I have about 10 other projects going as well.
Step 1: Get her running.
Step 2: Get her to stop... ie fix brakes.
Keeping everything stock at the moment until we decide what she will eventually look like.
She'll probably stay as a rat in the short term but I'll eventually strip her right back and make her very pretty.
She will eventually have a bed and some flash upholstery in the back but in the meantime a quick tidy up, a rear bench seat (donated by Chuck) and some more sign writing will be the way to go.
Chuck has already researched the original owner and we believe it was: Barclay's Licenced Electrical Contractors at 51 Myall St Dubbo.
I think it's only fitting to put this back on the bus as my Dad was also a Sparkie.

So far I think the rust repairs will be: whole front floor (even though LHS seems OK, l and r sills (outers only as inners look solid), bottom of outside driver's side dogleg (only step part is rusted) and a section of the rear floor near the doors.
There are a couple of buckles in the rear roof, as a previous owner (before Chuck) stored stuff on the roof. I'll follow Joe's tutorial on heat shrinking with the shrinking wheel to get rid of these.
There are also 4 X 30mm holes in each corner of the roof where the original owner mounted a roof rack. I'll weld these up as well.
At this stage I plan to do all the work myself, including upholstery (but not much experience in this area).

Great looking bus - if they are still around it be worth a visit to see if they have any old pics floating around...smifff wrote:Chuck has already researched the original owner and we believe it was: Barclay's Licenced Electrical Contractors at 51 Myall St Dubbo.

I think Chuck was already working on this before I bought it.
I'll be sure to follow it up.
