just thought i would turbo the 1955cc motor

Post by Silky »

Hi guys. I haven't posted for a while but I though I'd post a link to a small video I made of the turbo engine I built from junkyard parts ( apart from the turbo itself pushed the boat out on that and the waste-gate to match my front pulley ha ha!
By the way it did haul ass till I blew it up thats what you get for having your deck height to small and detonated a big hole in the piston Doh!
This has given me the perfect excuse to go to the next stage and fuel inject it managed to get some CB throttle bodies keep you posted.

I know 3 years seams a long time but there has been a lot of fun in those years, I have done more but I didn't feel they were worth posting. especially in the rides and projects section. Still missing being down under even for a pome :D I do keep track of what you guys are up to and I love the chat you have. Here's to you living it up in the lovely sunny weather! While my bus is sat in winter preservation waiting for the -18 weather to bugger off!!
I have some great pictures of a trip to Belgium and Amsterdam we did last year to post. This year I am taking the o'l 55 to Wolfsburg it's birth place in April so there should be some good pic's to wet your appetite.
Keep it real keep it VW...

I found these whilst looking on the samba.com. These were posted by Frenzix when he found the old girl before I managed to take her off his hands. Spot the good looking chap standing proudly by her seems like a lifetime ago remember T.!

The turbo was a T04E fitted to a modified merged buggy manifold, I used a Renault 5 turbo Carb which is very similar mounting's to a VW solex carb on a standard inlet manifold from a late 1600 bay window. I fabricated a collector out of 3 inch pipe for the turbo to sit on with a branch of it with 50mm pipe for the waste gate. I used 2" inlet aluminum pipe from a Saab turbo to make up the boost pipe with a dump valve piped in for the tunnel fun  I used the standard bosch 009 and pinned the advance and used a set of electronic points. fabricated a 3 inch (75mm) tail pipe and away we went. I got a friend to pace me in my Seat Altea 170BHP TDI on a stretch of road just over a !/4 mile and he clocked me at approx 100 mph please bear in mind it's approximately as up to 70 mph he couldn't keep up :P
