Just exactly how big were those tyres, mate?
They look like the aircraft rubber they fitted to the Afrika Korps Kubelwagens so they could handle in the sand during WW2.

paint

Post by steveo69 »

hey steffan
Nice work - very nice indeed. throw up the rust work too as i am always interested. Especially WA crew work
where did you get your mango paint mixed in perth if yo dont mind me asking? did you do the paint work yourself>
I'm after some mango too so would love to see how it came out and even if you had a bit left over would love to see any colour matching potential?
cheers

thanks guys
i couldnt be happier with the job
the photos dont really do it justice

i had a friend thats a prof painter do the paintwork little to daunting for me even though i know how to handle a gun....
he even had sleepless nights before we put on the paint hes been painting cars for over 20 years nothing like hes ever had to do he rekons.
came out beautiful

plans are to do restofication keep the outside all stock inside as well (anyone got a spare rear and middle split seat around ?? you know its for a good cause..  )
but irs rear end lowered and narrowed front end not sure about wheels yet
engine just a nice rebuild 1600 twin maybe a single webber on top
(thats all the budget can give away at the mo)

I will try and put up some pics of the rustwork done if i can keep myself out of the shed for long enough :D

ps i have some mango left over i gues could put it into a sample can and send it over if you want
cant see it too well but heres a pic of my og mango beetle with the new roof rack that i painted in the new mixed mango paint
came out well i rekon
cheers
