I snuck onto DSK via the back door it seems

Post by sprchrgd »

I have a confession to make. I once owned vee dubs, today I don't. Today I just dream about splittys. I sometimes have nightmares, sometimes can't sleep, I bore my wife about them, I talk to my workmates about them every day (it's OK they are boring like me), sometimes I answer the phone at work and talk splittys to the person calling, I look at them every day, not just a bit I reeaally look at them, I measure them up, I think about them non stop, I touch them, I caress them, sometimes gentle, sometimes hard, sometimes I hit them and I'm not even angry, sometimes I drink just to forget them......... Oh... It's OK this is quite normal. You see for the past couple of years my work has been working on splittys and some of my work is on here on DSK and I am fairly useless with forums and have never registered or hardly even had a look. You see I work with Al and Steve at Das Resto Haus. I might be a bit biased OK but we do good work there. And I even see that Steve Muller is a moderator (whatever that is, sounds like the police). A long time ago when I rallied a Datsun 1600 a young Muller had a rally Beetle and boy did that thing go, it got my attention. It looks as though there are some really crazy... sorry ....passionate,.. yeah passionate splitty owners on here. So if I don't get thrown off for not actually owning one a big hi to everyone in VW land (no doubt I have already met some of you at the workshop) and now I just have to figure out which is the correct forum to talk about all the excess VW ideas in my head.........

Good to see you on here Rob. Maybe one day your persistent nagging to build a vw-based off road racer or rally car or circuit racer may rub off. Have to get the drag car finished first though :)

In the mean time I'm sure some of the dsk folks like Steve Muller would be interested in seeing your tube chassis Paris-Dakar 'project' if you wanted to share any info (not sure if you want to keep the details quiet at the moment though). If so, everyone ignore what I just wrote ;)

Thanks everyonel.
Nice to know you can keep a secret Al! Nah it's OK the car will break cover soon enough. I had signed Brocky years ago to race in the Dakar it was to be his last big thing something he always wanted to do and in an all Aussie car and team. I had been building the car and it sat unfinished in my workshop for years so I now have it nearly finished and it will be offered for sale in September. There will soon be a dedicated site up about the car and project and international publicity etc. I'll be working to create publicity and funds for the Peter Brock Foundation too with the car which is a particularly gratifying and fitting end for me as well.
And now for my VW ideas!!
With the work load of the Dakar car mostly over I have been considering my next project and I have designed a number of VW based cars, but also some non VW based and I do nag Al mercilessly. I need a good reason to go VW!
