My 15
My build... confusing as I changed my mind a lot so bere with me..
ok so when i got it first thing was to sort the spindals for dropped. Creative sorted these. then with tyres and whitewalls to boot.
Next up was a dual cicuit master cylinder with new lines all round as i go, 1974 on a single circuit! lol
So now the rear end is up and i'm fitting bug S/A using Wagenwest offset bagged plates, i bought old bug hubs to keep the wide 5 for now..
gonna be plumbing in the Air this weekend along with the rest of the brake lines. i hope to get the rear done as the Airbeam arrives any day now.

Re: My 15
Ok so today i continued with the dual circuit brakes.
Also got the Shocks in, rear bags all plumbed in, and new bearings and hubs fitted.
Sited the air valve block..
And plumbed in the compressor and tank.
All the air is installed subject to be moved again as i dont want it visable.

So i got a bit of time on the bus today, fitting this bad boy!
The chop saw made light work of the Leaves.
Got the top run done then proceeded to the bottom tube, started to pull the leaves and!
Oh well not a problem as there is just enough for me to loose in the narrowing....
Maybe not.......Fk Fk n Double Fk
So now Where to buy some leaves from???
Watch this space.....

Re: My 15
Beam a long time coming but in she goes.
So cause i've been gagging to see how she sits i cut loads of corners for a quick mock up with the rims on..
So heres the money shot...well subject to tubbidge as i was laid on the arches.
so chuffed how she looked but popped her back up to start connecting shit...
So since adding the air my chassis started to look like a utillitys super highway, so i decided to hide it all in some Copex conduit..
Another little upcoming item is my Bay/Stinkfoot tank..lol with one or two too many pipes ? any ideas would be appreciated, i'm guessing i need 1 for breather..
Just a little update on the prep of the new Stinkfoot tank..
After a shake about i poured out this...
Realized some prep is really needed.
However from these shots it seems a bit localized...
Proceeded to breakdown the nastys with this stuff i got from a previous employer..
To say this stuff is pokey is an understatement as i spilt a loads and it ripped the shit out the concrete floor...
So when this is completely dry i'm gonna reseal it with some of this stuff from Frost's..
O and another recent purchase is 8 Porsche teledials only need four but won 8... sweet!
I plan to powdercoat and prep these Black like 56oldcrows... i really liked the look.
So today i done the Tank swap...
After removed this is them together, i had to modifie the neck to make fit.
Cause its a bigger tank i needed to extend the straps by 5 inch's..
All fitted
and got the engine fitted and run her up for the 1st time since it came back from the dock...
She Breathes!

Re: My 15
scored some Porsche brakes, need stripping cleaning and painting 1st.
As you can see by the pictures the backing plates took some pain in transport, can i just loose these as they seem pretty fooked.?
Thought i'd mock up me new Porsche discs this eve..
Think the Offset is real good on these as they stay nicely tucked...
To pissed for a decent write up so here are some pictures cause i done some stuff today on the bus.
Oh yeah i planned on actaully rolling out the garage but my battery was fooked and i couldnt push it cause i was laid on the arches etc..(sorry bout that)

Re: My 15
Today i sorted my clutch out so was able to run the bus outside albeit with no brakes
The engine was not running right thats for sure, i'm going to get it set up correct when i fit the electronic ignition...hopefully with a new zorst by then.
my steering box has loads of play...i hoped the spindals and the new beam would of helped but the majority of the play was at the box, something to pull apart another day..
As some of you may of read i am going to swap to IRS sometime? i've bought a 1986..944T rear setup
As you can see monster Brembo's on the back so after some research i will be swapping these with the hubs for the early non turbo to match the front my reasons is the brakeing should be more than efficiant and i wont have issues with what size rims etc..

Today i started to pull the bus apart again to start the big job of sorting the metal....and fit that IRS Eventually at least..
As your probely wondering, my plans for rolling next year have been shelved... i really dont see the sense in MOT and tax etc for one year just to find any issues with a rear setup im not sticking with...
So exciting times ahead, for me all unknowns
I hope to build a chassis tilter next time out (after ive made space) so i look forward to that... see ya soon
Next i had to pimp up the welder a bit... loose the farty little cylinder...
Next i got a pile of steel cut almost to length... along with some wheels sourced F.O.C
At this point i should add my welding skillz are not even close to most of you on here as ive not done much before says the man stripping a bus
Oh and this chassis tilter was c/o MKBUGGS who kindly contributed it in the technical thread... :drinkers:
Didn't get it finished but heres the start of it.
Carried on stripping the bus today along with pulling stuff out for selling as space is needed now...
some crusty battery tray pending sorting
And a pile of rubbish this had to go 4 sure..

Re: My 15
So i knew there was some filla present.. so i wanted to pull some off to see.
It was certainly thick thats fo sho.. looks like i uncovererd a shit repair as after a few taps, so much rust fell out.
i think the repair was laid ontop of the old shit?
check the heep from under that one section
So i am now concidering getting the shell media blasted as this will remove the shite so i can see whats what..
So today i continued building the chassis tilter.. came together well but unfortunatly due to the hight in my garage at the highest point it JUST bloody fails the roof timbers now its when im rolling off the 45 degree leg as the edge being square creeps just 1 or 2mm to high..
So i got 2 choices slice and angle off the 45 so as to maintain current hight or fit another set of wheels and roll it outside then wheel it back in..
I dont want to trim the 45 as its size and surface area mean its perfect balance when on it, and to alter that might make that angle unusable..
So next out i shall fit some castors and rework my plan..
escuse the lack of progress pics today as didnt have camera till later on.
So with another 4 wheels on the frame i flipped the pea in readiness for Rail notching, and outriggers, Jacking points, plus a few over shitty bits..

Re: My 15
Had a morning on the bus so pulled some stuff from my chassis, airlines and controller etc..
Disconnected
Probely wont refit this as i dont like it! its too fiddly and not a fixed type.
so i wanna keep digital display but something i can mount?
Next i made a start to the chassis notching.. well marked out and cut the tube to weld in..
My welds seem to be getting better too but realized i wanted to get the bus over onto its other side as im still not confident welding upside down (advice welcome )
so with this in mind i started to add another two removable 45 degree legs so i can tilt and finish my rail notchs..
today i rolled the bus outside to lay her on the new 45 degree angles so i could finish those notch welds, and true to form the good ol british weather turned bang on cue
Then i rolled her over to the otherside so i could attack the roof nice n easy..
I spent ages marking out inside and out...
No turning back now
now with a nice chunk or metal for some repair on my way..
As you can see quite alot lighter at the moment
Not the best place for my little man to be today, alot of sharp stuff about :ANAL: It is great hearing him come in going "CAMPER CAMPER CAMPER"
Today i bunked off work early and had a little sesh on the bus
Removed bump stop bag mount and shock clamp thing
then stood inside the bus to get a picture of some more shitty bits lurking under paint and bondo
theres 3 of these repairs on the cab floor, just plonked straight ontop of old shite

Re: My 15
Did i bunk off of work early again hell yeah
so as a result i got some garage time in..
So since i cut a huge hole in the roof ive been meening to start sureing it up (giving it some strength)
so as i cut the thingy bob that hugs the roof? i needed to extend this so as to pick up my strengthening bar that will be fitted soon. so not pretty i know but i fabbed a couple of pieces to give me some length :butthead:
welded on
this along with the other short trusses will be flared and tacked onto the steal bar.. kinda like this
As you can see in this pic the edge peices will be shortend as the bar will be inward 100mm ish and the extended piece will be at the back in the middle.
Also i will need to shave this end to accomadate the rear curve in the roof.
Im thinking i might just bend it though?
today i have mostly been doing stuff in my garage
at the front of my rear arch by the cargo door post has been hiding something so i cracked out the tool to remove the snot
Another shite bit to remove n sort at some point soon the smile is although i dont like to find shite bits im enjoying doing all these repairs....
So back onto sorting the roof section around the hole i cut for the rag roof
So i sliced the end in the shape required
Then with the centre section tacked in place
So whilst doing this work today i got a call from a geezer who has been sorting my rims went and collected these and was well happy with the finish and the colour (this is the same white for the bus)
Insert bus porn here
You see what im up against
Check the fake line up against the actual line :ANAL:
More metal being added to the list daily
today i say bye bye fish eye..
Tacked in place
Just gotta finish the welds another time
Had a bloody good clearup in the garage today well an hour or so
Still loads of sorting to do, just wanna house all my bus bits new and old so i know when things get closer i know where to find em
So sorry but i had to see
Tomorrow i get a day on the bus so hopefully another step closer......................to finding metal underneath
Today i removed the other front door (ive been putting this off due due rounded seized bolts)
Then i popped it over to the otherside to remove the bump stop and shock thingy..
Oh and must forget some more crust pictures
this is as far as i got as apparently the noise hasnt stopped all day and the neigbours are having a BBQ :ANAL:
Today i moved some more filler along the sill of the long panel again to see whats underneath
Check this repair :ANAL:
then i moved onto removing all locks and handles. i plan to send off all locks and ignition to have them worked off one key.
first problem was my cargo door has no lock?
Today i exposed my long one
tried to remove that last lock only to have the shaft snap off so i need a new handle anyways
So cause my bus is Brazillian it is a riot of random parts and panels and i was hoping someone could advise me on my arch (dogleg) panels see is it thin or thick lip model? need to get it right when getting new metal.
Also been concidering getting this original sellers badge tidied up to put back on when im done what ya think?
second prob is how do i get this handle off? its the tailgate door.
