been a while but got back on it again , after picking up a lowlight sc rear section and finding it pretty good I used the complete hinge carrier section and will also use the tray and side rail sections nothing like disecting a vw.

also got stuck into front rail sections, been sidetracked before i got back on this.
built the 79 panel to replace one I burnt down , then mate who now owns it had a fuel injection failure , then a facet pump failure after converting to carby, and i went down to cooma from wollongong one night getting back at 4 in the morning, after picking it up . The 68 single cab is the one of ebay from nicks yard which isnt too bad just had to weld the torsion housing back in and am in the process of fixing rails and welding floors back in after previous owner glued and rivited them in yee haa . They had used new floors , tray section and cab divider from what it looks like all orig vw replacement panels. Sucker for punishment

but was it a baja kombi with 4x4 flares and 100 x 50mm tube welded to the front chassis legs for a bumper ahhh. and a cracked n rusted chassis leg.. most of this work has been just rust repair the conversion will be the fun part knowing how well the type 3 i use goes with its subi motor cant wait to drive the crapper out of this one . Aim is for blast from the past next year or earlier. as long as all parts turn up and I decide on a paint job since TICK has already done what i had planned rims n all . Gasburners are the new fuch's eh eh . Just about used up a 2400 x 1200 sheet of 1mm steel in the old girl and 8m's of 100x50 mm rhs for strength , should weigh a bit more than stock. Bigger turbo will overcome that problem.
