Well I spent a couple more days out on the bus and continued the journey.
We have basically got the front completed, apart from the front drivers door and both door tops which are cactus.
Pulled the drivers door off and as you can see she is pretty rusty. Just getting the door off took sometime.

The top hinge on the door is busted out and the door won't sit properly, looks like a hard one to get into.
The passenger door wasn't as bad and has been welded up and done.
Panel made for the under door.

Front floor is done. Each and every time we cut and put in new panels we are covering it all in Fishoil.
I have been coming home the colour of rust and smelling like fish oil.
Not a good look.
Here is the floor...

Thanks Chilax,
Went out for a few hours today ripped the fuel tank out and grinded the surface rust off. The cap was still in place, and there was an old rats nest behind the tank.
Hit it with the wire brush and wiped it all over with some thinners came up pretty good.

I'm hearing ya there. My 56 I bought in Jan 07 and it still hasn't seen the road.
Then along came this bus. I probably should of finished the other first but I kinda like the rat more at the moment.

Just checked out both your restos then. Love the moss on the DC.
I have sworn I won't get myself another kombi but I am very very partial to the DC! Very Nice.

Got in there with the grinder/steel brush and cleaned it all out and covered the lot in fish oil. Came up pretty good.
Top of the drivers door was getting thin, so out she comes...
And in with the new
